Spike protein detox: How to repair your hormones, immunity, and gut health.

Over the past few years, I’ve had countless raw, honest conversations with women and no matter if they’re in their 30s, 40s or beyond, the same phrase keeps coming up: “I just don’t feel like myself anymore.”

Since 2020, many women have noticed a rapid decline in their health, either after having COVID, or following the vaccine. It’s the elephant in the room that most people are too nervous to bring up, yet it’s showing up in our bodies in ways we can’t ignore.

To be completely honest, women everywhere are reporting changes in their hormones, cycles, immune systems, circulation and energy levels and it’s not just “getting older.” Something deeper is going on.

The symptoms we can’t ignore

When I ask women what’s changed since 2020, the answers are strikingly similar. Here’s what they’re experiencing:

  • Hormonal chaos: irregular cycles, heavier bleeding, worsening PMS, early perimenopause symptoms.

  • Heavy, clotting, painful periods: women who never struggled before are suddenly experiencing intense bleeding, large clots, and debilitating cramps.

  • Weight gain that won’t shift: even with strict diets and exercise, the scale won’t budge.

  • Crushing fatigue and brain fog: like walking around in a cloud, with zero energy reserves.

  • Digestive issues: bloating, IBS flares, sudden food sensitivities.

  • Immune dysfunction: lowered immunity, catching every cold or virus going around.

  • Cardiac concerns: episodes of myocarditis, pericarditis, chest pains, or palpitations.

  • Neurological symptoms: facial numbness, tingling, headaches, dizziness.

  • Mood struggles: anxiety, depression, irritability, loss of motivation.

  • Autoimmune triggers: new or worsened conditions like Hashimoto’s, rheumatoid arthritis, or psoriasis.

It’s no wonder so many women are saying: “I feel like I’ve aged 10 years in the past five.”

What the experts are saying

Mainstream medicine has been slow (and often reluctant) to acknowledge these trends, but leading voices in integrative and functional health have been speaking out.

  • Dr. Peter McCullough, cardiologist and researcher, has published findings on spike protein persistence, noting its links to inflammation, clotting disorders, myocarditis, and pericarditis – especially in younger, otherwise healthy people.

  • Dr. Jaban Moore, a functional medicine doctor, works extensively with post-COVID and post-vaccine syndromes. He highlights how spike protein disrupts detox pathways, overwhelms the mitochondria (our energy factories), and weakens immune resilience.

  • Dr. Austin Lake points to growing research that spike protein may contribute to long-term immune dysregulation and chronic inflammation – the kind of smouldering fire that makes women “always sick” or struggling to recover fully.

  • Barbara O’Neil, natural health educator, has long taught about the importance of detoxifying the liver and lymphatic system to support the body’s self-healing – a crucial step for women trying to shift stubborn symptoms.

  • Gary Brecka, human biologist, reminds us that when oxygen delivery and mitochondrial function drop (common after viral or toxin exposures), fatigue, brain fog, and immune weakness explode. Supporting oxygenation and nutrients is non-negotiable.

  • Dr. Libby Weaver, a women’s health expert, has been warning about the “Rushing Woman’s Syndrome” for years showing how stress chemistry damages female hormones. Add spike protein stress into the mix, and it’s no surprise so many women’s cycles and moods have been turned upside down.

  • Dr. Christiane Northrup, OB/GYN and women’s health pioneer, has spoken widely about the surge in menstrual abnormalities post-2020. She notes that heavy clotting periods can be a sign of both spike protein disruption and underlying hormone imbalance, particularly estrogen dominance and poor progesterone support. Her advice? Focus on detoxifying excess estrogen, nourishing the liver, and replenishing magnesium, B vitamins, and iodine to bring cycles back into balance.

Why women’s bodies are hit harder

The spike protein, whether from infection or the vaccine, has a knack for lingering. Unlike a short-lived virus, it can hang around in tissues, triggering immune reactions long after the original exposure.

Though women, in particular, seem to feel the brunt of it. Why?

  1. Hormonal sensitivity. Oestrogen and progesterone are exquisitely tuned messengers, easily thrown off balance by inflammation or toxins.

  2. Autoimmune prevalence. Women are far more likely to develop autoimmune conditions, and spike protein can be a major trigger.

  3. Thyroid vulnerability. The thyroid gland is sensitive to stress, toxins, and inflammation: three things women are dealing with in overdrive.

  4. Gut disruption. Spike protein alters the microbiome, the foundation of digestion, immunity, and hormone clearance.

  5. Cycle disruption. As Dr. Northrup explains, inflammatory stress plus excess oestrogen can lead to painful, clotting periods that leave women depleted and burnt out.

These are not “all in your head” like you might be led to believe, it’s your body waving a red flag, asking for support.

The path to healing: detox, rebuild, restore

The good news is that our bodies are brilliantly designed to heal, but they need the right conditions, so here are some key strategies to begin recovering from spike protein effects and restoring your health:

1. Support autophagy & cellular clean-pp

  • Intermittent fasting or 12–16 hour overnight fasts.

  • Regular movement and exercise (especially strength training + walking in sunlight – barefoot on the earth if possible).

  • Infrared sauna, hot/cold therapy to promote detox and mitochondrial (our cells batteries) resilience.

2. Nutrient repletion

  • Vitamin D3 + K2 for immune balance and bone health.

  • Vitamin C (liposomal or wholefood) for antioxidant support.

  • Magnesium Glycinate to calm the nervous system, ease cramps, and regulate cycles (Dr. Northrup’s top recommendation for painful, heavy periods).

  • Zinc + B vitamins for gut, hormone and immune repair.

  • Iodine (you can test if you’re deficient first here) for healthy breast and ovarian tissue, as noted by Dr. Northrup.

3. Heal your gut first

  • Probiotics (like For Her) to replenish beneficial bacteria.

  • Prebiotic fibre from vegetables and fruit to feed good microbes (try to really minimise anything from a packet while healing – this makes a huge difference).

  • Anti-inflammatory foods: bone broth, leafy greens, wild salmon, grass-fed organic meats, turmeric, organic berries (ditch the sugar as its highly inflammatory).

4. Mitochondrial & detox support

  • NAC & Glutathione for cellular detoxification.

  • CoQ10 to restore energy production.

  • Deep breathing, rebounding, red light therapy, grounding (barefeet on the earth) for oxygenation.

5. Balance your hormones

  • Eat protein at every meal to stabilise blood sugar.

  • Greatly reduce or cut out alcohol, caffeine, and ultra-processed foods that tax the endocrine system.

  • Use adaptogens (ashwagandha, maca) to support your adrenals.

  • Follow Dr. Northrup’s guidance for heavy bleeding: prioritise liver detoxification, magnesium, iodine, and reducing xenoestrogens (toxic estrogen-like chemicals found in plastics, makeup, and cleaning products, more on these here).

6. Liver & lymphatic detox (Barbara O’Neil inspired)

  • Castor oil packs over the liver (I love these and do them every other evening – so relaxing and it promotes deep healing).

  • Dry body brushing (always brush towards the heart), before your morning shower is best.

  • Herbal teas: dandelion, milk thistle, nettle, pine needle.

  • Adequate hydration + mineral-rich water (I use this one daily by Mineralyte and absolutley love it).

7. Calm the Nervous System

  • If possible, try to have ‘phone free’ time each day, eg. don’t look at it each morning until one hour after waking, or make Sunday your tech-free day.
  • Breathwork, meditation, journaling.

  • Prioritising rest and quality sleep – tuck yourself into bed with a good book and low-light by 9.30pm.

  • Gentle practices like yoga, stretching or legs up the wall for five minutes before bed to downshift from stress chemistry.

My perspective

I’ll never forget a conversation I had with someone who told me: “After I had COVID, I swear I’ve never been the same, my periods are so heavy and painful (they use to be fine), that I have to medicate and put myself to bed for a day or two each month.”

Another woman said to me, “I used to bounce back from everything and always had the best immune system, but now I catch everything and it takes me weeks to recover. I’m feeling so defeated.”

If you’ve been feeling like this too, please know: this is not permanent, your body just needs the right support to reset, detox, and rebuild.

I’ve seen firsthand how gut healing, hormone balancing, and gentle detox practices can completely change the trajectory of a women’s health, even when it feels like you’ve “tried everything.”

The decline in women’s health since 2020 is very real and should be a widely discussed and addressed topic by the conventional medical system, but its not so we need to be proactive in making this conversation mainstream, so women no longer have to suffer in silence.

But you’re also not powerless. By understanding how the spike protein impacts your body, and by working with natural, evidence-based strategies, you can detox, heal, and feel like you again.

Start small, Support your gut. Rebuild your mitochondria. Nourish your hormones. Calm your nervous system. Over time, these steps add up to resilience, vitality, and balance.
